What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts in Windsor always tells you about how our technicians are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it truly mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all technicians in the industry are required to be certified through NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified through NATE.

It’s important to Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and professional technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based tests that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification (not refrigeration), there are only certain areas applicable to our technicians. NATE test candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the skill areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
