4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts is here with a few signals to look for when choosing whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler receives standard maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or so. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is getting close to 50 years, it may be time to think about an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to call an expert about your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the areas in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them correctly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you might need to look into upgrade choices.
