$11,383 system → $34,000 paid → Still don’t own it. In 2019, when my furnace and AC failed, I signed with Bryant Heating & Cooling / Service Experts. For my 1,100 sq. ft., single-story home, they installed a system priced at $11,383 — already overpriced to begin with compared to the market. The contract locked me into $159/month + HST ($179.67 to start) for 15 years, with a 2% yearly CPI increase. Six years in, my payment is already $189.79/month. By the end of the term, I’m on track to pay $34,000 total. The shocking part? After paying more than triple the system’s value, I still don’t even own it. The unit remains their property. When I asked about buying it out today, they quoted me $9,447.89 + HST — nearly the cost of a new system again, even after years of payments. They’ll probably reply talking about the “service visits” included. Here’s the truth: they come maybe once a year, often closer to 18 months, to “service” equipment that they own, not me. One of their techs even told me to clean my own AC coils in between visits if I wanted better efficiency. So much for “full service.” I originally chose them because of their glowing Google reviews, but after this experience, I don’t know how they maintain a 5-star rating while locking homeowners into contracts like this. I plan on buying out my contract just to be done with it — and I’ll never give them another penny. If they make this right, I’d be willing to revisit my review. But as it stands, this Advantage Program is nothing more than a financial trap. Homeowner BEWARE Andrew Johns
