We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t kick on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters monthly. If you don’t, they can get clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but verify the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts a call at 226-773-3357 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
