Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite

We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than laying down at night just to realize your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself before your call Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should change standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently moved to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Bryant Heating & Cooling Service Experts a call at 226-773-3357 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
